Skips are great — if you’ve got a driveway

Plenty of Hamilton and Motherwell homes don’t. A lot of the housing here is tenement and terraced flats with no off-street space, and the moment a skip has to go on the road it gets complicated: a South Lanarkshire on-road permit runs £40-plus and takes days to come through, the skip itself is £180–£300 for the week, and then you’re throwing stuff in it for three days while the neighbours tut.

The council special uplift isn’t much better — South Lanarkshire charges for it, and North Lanarkshire’s runs to about £38.59 if you’re over the Motherwell or Wishaw way — cheap enough, but you can wait weeks for a slot and it all has to sit out on the kerb. If it needs gone this week, or today, that’s where we come in.

The simpler answer for most people: we arrive with a van (or a caged vehicle, or a partner’s truck), load the whole lot in one go, and take it away the same day. Same result as a skip, none of the permit grief.

How it works

You’ve got a proper load on your hands — a renovation clear-up, a garage clear-out, a shed-and-garden push, or an end-of-tenancy flat stuffed to the ceiling. Too much for one van run, too awkward or too small to justify a 6-yard skip parked on the street.

Quote a flat price for the lot — by volume, none of the per-item nickel-and-diming
Bring the right vehicle — the Crafter for medium loads, a partner’s caged vehicle for a ton or two, a skip-hire partner for the full 4-ton-plus jobs
Turn up at the agreed time — load it in 1–3 hours and dispose of it properly
You pay on completion — one invoice, one supplier, no permit, no road fee

Most “I think I need a skip” jobs around here fit this model better than an actual skip on the kerb — and if yours genuinely doesn’t, we’ll say so.
